The weekday test: a clearer way to compare Pittsburgh homes

Pittsburgh Property Diva · Buyer & seller journal
A beautiful showing is a useful first impression. A better buying decision starts with a more ordinary question: how would this home work on a Tuesday? When exploring Pittsburgh homes, use your own routine to connect the photographs with the way you actually live.
Build the day before you build the wish list
Write down the places you need to reach, when you need to arrive, and what happens when you return home. Include occasional trips as well as your regular commute. Then identify what the home itself needs to support: a quiet work area, a place to unload groceries, room for hobbies, or storage near the entrance.
Separate essentials from preferences. That helps you decide whether an appealing feature solves a real need or simply makes an attractive photograph.
Walk the route inside the home
At a viewing, picture arriving with bags, preparing a meal, moving between rooms, and putting things away. Consider stairs and room connections as carefully as square footage. Take measurements for important furniture with permission, and record questions about spaces you could not access.
Test the journey, then keep the evidence
Try important routes at the times you expect to use them. A single map estimate cannot describe every trip. Record the date, time, route, and what you observed so you can compare homes consistently.
Keep two columns in your notes: what you know and what still needs checking. A tour is a starting point; it does not settle questions about condition, boundaries, or ongoing costs.
Turn your notes into the next conversation
Bring Lauren your strongest candidates and the tradeoffs you are weighing. Clear priorities make it easier to refine the search without losing sight of the way you want your next home to feel and function.
